At
the onset of the project a detailed project proposal was
drawn up by an experienced heritage management consultant.
This preliminary document can be downloaded as a PDF. While
it still encapsulates many of the basic, ideal plans we
hope to implement, however, the realities of Zimbabwe have
required rethinking of some of the proposals. Several have
been scaled down for the time being given shortages of funds,
expertise, food and general construction materials.
Securing
the area remains a priority, but it requires a lot of money
which we just do not have at this stage. Quotations for
a fully electrified perimeter fence will cost the equivalent
of several thousand US dollars. We hope to raise this money
through external donations but in the meantime we have started
to secure the unsupervised access points, increased the
number of security personnel and patrols, and begun to put
up booms at the main designated entrances.
We
have designed a number of “mini-proposals” which
have been circulated to various local companies, individuals,
NGOs and embassies. Those that can have been very generous
in assisting in our achieving some of these projects –
uniforms, labour, repairs, toilet rehabilitation, etc. Some
of the outstanding projects can be downloaded below.

proposals please contact Rob. Any offers of support however
small would be much appreciated.
